Looking Machines Exhibition 'Gives Insight Into Creative Mind'

Those visiting Seville have the chance to see an exhibition of pieces owned by film-maker Werner Nekes.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, December 16, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Spending an afternoon with some popcorn and a great film at the cinema can be the perfect way to relax and wile away a few hours.

If this sounds like bliss to those staying in Seville hotels, then one exhibition may be of interest to them if they are in the city at the beginning of next year.

A collection of over 200 pieces owned by German filmmaker Werner Nekes is on display at the Contemporary Art Centre of Andalusia in Seville and visitors have until January 10th 2010 to take a peek.

The exhibit is called Looking Machines and may give an insight into some of the things that inspired the experimental director, as it features items dating from the 16th to the 20th centuries.

All of these are considered to be "genuine forerunners of the seventh art", the Spanish Tourism Office reports, including "trompe l'œil, anamorphoses, magic lanterns, camera obscura, distortion mirrors, shadow theatres, the Wonderturner, the kaleidoscope and the phenokistiscope".

General admission for the exhibition costs just EUR1.80 (GBP1.60), so film fanatics may have no excuse not to go and take a look. It is also free on Tuesdays for EU citizens.

Nekes has produced over 100 films since 1965 and they have been presented at many international museums and festivals, so that everyone can have the chance to experience some of his work.

To make the most of Looking Machines - you should consider booking your hoteles Sevilla to avoid disappointment.
