Helping Save Homes in Two Countries

Author Matt Silverman to donate 25% of sales from his newly released loan modification e-book, to the Habitat for Humanity Haitian relief effort. Making a small difference in two very different areas of devastation at the same time.

CONCORD, MA, January 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a town noted for its authors, first time author, Matt Silverman wanted to make a difference. Like most new authors, Silverman has been fighting off his own financial demons. So when the Haiti earthquake hit, he felt powerless to do anything about it. Then it hit him. "I realized that I was in a unique position to make a small difference in two areas of devastation at the very same time," Silverman said. So Silverman pledged to donate 25% of sales from his new e-book on loan modifications, to the Habitat for Humanity Haitian relief effort.

Just released this week, "Armed & Effective, the homeowners complete guide to loan modifications," has a lofty goal. According to Silverman, "My mission is to reach as many people as I can before they become one of the 2.5 million projected foreclosures in 2010." Silverman goes on to say, "I wasn't getting very far one family at a time". So Silverman wrote an e-book that drew on his nine years of experience in residential finance, plus three years of working individually with families who were trying to get their lenders to give them loan modifications.

This single father of six kids knows first hand what his U.S. audience is experiencing. Silverman says, "Long before it became 'popular' I lost a home due to financial hardship, and if the result of my work is that another family can avoid what I went through, then I will have done a very good thing."

"There's no school for this stuff," says Silverman. "I saw people making the same mistakes over and over again. My kids are always encouraging me to write." So Silverman took his kids words to heart and put what he learned into an affordable resource in the form of a twenty dollar e-book that addresses issues such as, "How to avoid the single biggest mistake most homeowners make that gets their loan modification denied before they even start."

Silverman also has a background as a psychologist. "The motivational factors just jumped out at me as something no one was addressing," Silverman says. "No amount of information can help if you're too depressed to do anything about it, so I strive for a balance of useful information and actions, along with a healthy dose of encouragement."

Silverman goes on to say, "I feel like this donation to the Habitat for Humanity Haitian relief effort, is just one way of saying to ourselves that even while we're experiencing our own world as overwhelming to the point of inaction, there's great healing and empowerment when we can still help others."
