LOS ANGELES, CA, February 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- You won't find Moorpark Highlands by looking for freeway billboards or a trail of offsite signs pointing out the way. No such markers exist for this gracious master-planned community. So it may come as a surprise that while the homes here sit in a panoramic setting of historic ranchlands, nicely above it all, they are also just over a mile from a bustling Moorpark thoroughfare, reached by an easy, straightforward route.
Simply take the 118 Freeway to Los Angeles Avenue exit and head west into Moorpark. Turn right on Spring Road, continue past Charles Street, and then find the first signs to point you up the hill to Moorpark Highlands. Enjoy a scenic boulevard drive, turn into the welcoming, handsomely landscaped entry, and you're there. If you're a new home shopper, head to Cherry Hill, which today represents the only opportunity to purchase a new home at Moorpark Highlands.
Buyers have found their heart's desire at Moorpark Highlands, created by award-winning developer, Pardee Homes. They like the stylish, up to date and well-finished new homes. They like the scenic location. And they like the lifestyle this place makes possible for them and their children.
For Fred and Guia Salas, who moved from Los Angeles, the goal was simple: Guia Salas wanted a better environment in which to raise her children and Fred wanted to be closer to his work in Thousand Oaks. "Nothing felt right for us until we visited Cherry Hill in Moorpark Highlands," Guia said. "We love coming home to this quiet community up in the hills, so different from where we used to live. The skies are much clearer, and the view is lovely. We also like the extra privacy of a gated entry."
Or take Raj Saha and Bhupinder Kaur, a professional couple with work in Thousand Oaks. They were all set to purchase a new home in Moorpark when they decided to take just one look at Moorpark Highlands. That was all it took.
"The moment we went up the hill to Moorpark Highlands we were sold on the location," said Raj. "The top of the hill setting, the entry and the open feeling were all lovely and inviting. We changed our decision, and bought at Waverly Place."
Noted Fred Salas, a microbiologist with a pharmaceutical company, "It's wonderful to drive around Cherry Hill and the Moorpark Highlands community, with the well-kept streets and friendly neighbors. Now our children can play in a pleasant neighborhood setting."
The setting now includes a terrific new park, opened just last summer. Mammoth Highlands Park is the city's 17th public park, and created from 7.5 acres donated by Pardee Homes. A paleontology find gave the park its name and an interactive mammoth skeleton sculpture explains all. It was inspired by the 2005 discovery of a nearly complete skeleton of a Southern Mammoth, a prehistoric mammal that is part of the elephant family.
"Pardee Homes has extensive experience in the careful recovery and preservation of paleontology discoveries, and we worked with the City of Moorpark officials," said Jim Bizzelle, vice president of community development for Pardee Homes. "Today, the 'Moorpark Mammoth' fossils are on display at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History."
The park features children's play areas, designed and equipped for a range of ages. And you'll find an expansive multi-use field, picnic pavilion and picnic tables, a lighted tennis court, a basketball court, restrooms and parking.
Mammoth Highlands Park adds to other outdoor delights opportunities for residents of Moorpark Highlands. Among these are multi-purpose trails with links to surrounding open space and trails, as well as private pool centers that serve specific neighborhoods. These centers feature swimming and spa pools, lawn and deck seating areas, and some include barbeques, picnic seating and tot lot amenities.
Pardee Homes' commitment to quality living at Moorpark Highlands also includes a greener way of life at home, as provided by the company's LivingSmart brand. Its included and optional features enhance energy efficiency, interior air quality and overall performance and comfort under EnergySmart, EarthSmart, HealthSmart and WaterSmart groupings. Perhaps best of all at Moorpark Highlands is that residents can enjoy the beauty and retreat of this enclave location--then zip down the hill and get right into "places to go, people to see, things to do" territory. Moorpark Marketplace is among the nearby destinations, adjacent to the 23 Freeway and with some 350,000 square feet of retail space, filled with clothing, shoes, housewares and specialty shops, plus popular cafes and restaurants. Close by is The Village at Moorpark, where you'll find a bank branch, coffee shop, office supplies, sporting goods and pet supplies.
Maybe best of all is that Moorpark still offers unique and very local delights. "One of our new favorite places is nearby Underwood Family Farms," noted Guia Salas. "We can shop for fresh produce and flowers, enjoy the petting zoo and take part in seasonal fun. We loved having our daughter's birthday there."
So, whatever it is you need, you'll probably find it quite close to home if Moorpark Highlands is home. And with freeway access so easy, getting to even more choices, like those of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village or Simi Valley, is a snap.
And the new homes at Cherry Hill, while limited, are also choice. Just ask Realtor Bob Pearson, who is now a settled resident of Cherry Hill--and one who invites selected clients to consider this neighborhood. Call the model home center at 805-530-1508 and check out http://www.pardeehomes.com/moorpark-highlands/cherry-hill/
"Local move-down buyers who start in Westlake Village or Thousand Oaks generally have trouble satisfying their quality expectations, primarily because they find much older homes at the price point they want," said Pearson, who has 25+ years of experience in real estate sales. "Those who expand their search radius about 10 minutes find Cherry Hill--and get updated designs, a gated neighborhood and this really gorgeous hilltop community. Westlake and T-Oaks have nothing to compare with this."
Cherry Hill and Moorpark Highlands--worth a little jog off the beaten path. Worth a little climb.
