CLARKSBURG, WV, February 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Paul S. Pickholtz has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in gastroenterology.

With 29 years in the medical profession, Dr. Paul S. Pickholtz is a respected specialist in endoscopy and the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, biliary tract disease, and liver disease. He established an office in Clarksburg, WV in 2008 and raised the gastroenterological standards at a 280-bed hospital in West Virginia that caters to a large underserved population. The only gastroenterologist in the area, Dr. Pickholtz brings to his practice his previous experience as the chief of gastroenterology at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY, where he introduced a state-of-the-art suite for G.I. endoscopic procedures.

Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Pickholtz devoted two years of service to his country as a commanding officer of an isolated medical detachment in Korea, where he treated both U.S. troops and the local indigent population. He also served as an internist at Fort Monmouth, NJ, where he cared for both soldiers and their families. He attributes his medical success to his diligence, problem-solving skills, and love for medicine.

Dr. Pickholtz received his M.D. degree in 1970 from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Pickholtz completed his internship and residency in 1975 and his G.I. fellowship in 1977, all at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Pickholtz aspires to venture into teaching within the next few years.
