WEST PALM BEACH, FL, March 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Sandra Close Turnquest, Deputy Executive Director of Corporate Resources for South Florida Water Management District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in executive leadership.
Possessing over 31 years of experience, Sandra Close Turnquest is recognized for her tireless advocacy for African Americans at South Florida Water Management District. Ms. Turnquest represents a new era at the organization, having become the first professional African American employee, Human Resources Director and finally Deputy Executive Director of Corporate Resources at South Water Management. It is not a privilege that Ms. Turnquest has taken lightly - in each position she has strived to increase the number of women and minorities in the industry. Now, she will introduce the company's first African American Speaker, Supreme Justice of Florida P. Quince. As Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Turnquest is responsible for human resources, executive management and organizational development. She also manages the information technology, procurement and finance departments.
Initially becoming involved in public administration in order to serve her community, Ms. Turnquest has achieved professional success through hard work and her dedication to the public. She received the African American Achievers Award and was honored as one of the "25 Most Influential and Prominent Black Women." Looking forward, Ms. Turnquest intends to pursue a career in teaching, aspiring to obtain professorship at a university. She holds a master's degree in public administration from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor of science in political science and history from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Ms. Turnquest is affiliated with the Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc., Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, Society of Human Resource Management and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her free time, she feeds the homeless through several outreach ministries.
