She helped set up programs for the Air Force's first women's gym in San Antonio, Texas and served as an intramural and varsity sports director in Germany. While in Colorado Springs, she cross-trained into education at Peterson Air Force Base and was assigned to work as an instructor at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany and Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. She also traveled to Turkey on an educational tour and oversaw all military schools within the command. Back in the U.S., Ms. Hemming-Rich became an executive officer at Langley Air Force Base and was selected to be an enlisted leader in the Pentagon, where she served for three years. She was in the building during the terrorist attack on September 11th.
Ms. Hemming-Rich is currently pursuing a master's degree in criminal justice at American Military University. She earned a bachelor's degree in business management, with a concentration in secondary psychology, from the University of Maryland and an associate degree in general studies from Pikes Peak Community College and she also earned two associate degrees from Air Force Community College. She is a member of the Council of College and Military Educators and the Air Force Sergeants Association. Away from work, she spends time with her daughter, a registered nurse and sexual assault nurse who has worked with Doctors Without Borders and of whom she is very proud. Ms. Hemming-Rich enjoys the challenges presented by her current position and looks forward to moving on to another education center within the U.S. Air Force and improving operations there as well.
