Ann McCaughan sits with Cambridge Who's Who for an exclusive interview to discuss the future of hemodynamic monitoring

LAS VEGAS, NV, March 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The landscape of medical technology is rapidly changing—genetic testing has revolutionized the way doctors approach prenatal healthcare and laser surgery has become commonplace. In the field of cardiology, Noninvasive Medical Technologies, Inc. (NMT) is unrivaled in its research and development of new and innovative uses for noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring. Cambridge Who's Who sat down with Ann McCaughan, NMT's Chief Officer of Operations and Techology, to learn more about its patented products and the impact they have had on the healthcare industry.

"We can [now] empower ourselves as individuals to become proactive in our own care," said McCaughan in her November interview with Cambridge Who's Who. In fact, NMT is currently the only manufacturer that incorporates three-dimensional signal averaging into its technology. Initially designed to meet the demands of U.S. Special Operations forces, such products have indicated a breakthrough in home, military and emergency healthcare:

The IQ2 provides information about the function, fluid volume, status and contractility of the left ventricle. The IQ2 is especially useful for people living with heart failure. Its core functions include delivering objective assessment of the heart's mechanical performance, providing continuous data to optimize fluid management, enabling precise and rapid titration of diuretics and inotropes, and optimizing confident goal-directed therapeutic decision making.

ZOE, designed for home care use, provides early identification of decompensation prior to symptom development through measurements of the thorax. In layman's terms, ZOE will monitor whether a person is experiencing congestion or dehydration. Research indicates that ZOE is an early predictor of congestion in heart failure, showing an increase in fluid retention. as early as two weeks prior to weight gain and symptoms. The original ZOE is currently available for individual purchase with a prescription. In 2007, the ZOEwi, a wireless version of the ZOE monitor was released and is currently awaiting FDA validation.

The NcIQ and ETag Sensor work to provide continuous monitoring of individuals prior to and including those who have been recently wounded, allowing for acuity status prior to first responder arrival. Both include systems, which sensor the individuals' physical stats as well as help medical responders to locate and assess wounded individuals. Such technology will help prevent the loss of countless lives during combat. The NcIQ is designed for use by first responders and the ETag is designed for use by military forces. Recently, the NcIQ was approved by NASA for use on parabolic flight testing. This partnership has marked an exciting breakthrough in aerospace medical technology.

In the development of NMT's leading products, McCaughan, a 29-year professional in the medical field, has played a crucial role. A widely-recognized expert in cardiac home care, McCaughan oversees all research and development, technical and engineering processes at NMT, as well as handles regulatory issues. This year, she was chosen for Frost & Sullivan's Lifetime Achievement Award in the North American Remote Patient Monitoring Market. Said NMT CEO Ronald McCaughan, "[Ann McCaughan's] vision, leadership, fearlessness, and, on occasion, sheer will have long been major driving forces at NMT, helping to inspire our team to bring to market true industry-disruptive innovations...Words simply cannot express the depth of our pride for Ann's many achievements." Ann McCaughan is a registered nurse and holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Oakland University.
