Jackson Design & Remodeling Architect Jim Groen Earns LEED Certification from the US Green Building Council

JDR Architect Jim Groen has received LEED Associate Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the mark of the most qualified, educated, and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design & Remodeling (winner of the 2007 and 2009 BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics) is proud to announce that Architect Jim Groen has received LEED Associate Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions aimed at improving performance in several areas: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

The LEED Professional Credentials were developed to encourage green building professionals to maintain and advance their knowledge and expertise. According to the USGBC, the LEED Professional Credential is the mark of the most qualified, educated, and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.

"As professionals in the remodeling industry, it is important that we lead by example and continually educate ourselves on green practices and work diligently to utilize these methods in all that we do," said Groen. "It's not just up to the homeowners to request green materials, but it's up to all of us who work in the industry to make green practices and methods simply a part of what we do."

About USGBC
The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. With a community comprising 80 local affiliates, more than 18,500 member companies and organizations, and more than 140,000 LEED Professional Credential holders, USGBC is the driving force of an industry that is projected to contribute $554 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product from 2009-2013. USGBC leads an unlikely diverse constituency of builders and environmentalists, corporations and nonprofit organizations, elected officials and concerned citizens, and teachers and students. Buildings in the United States are responsible for 39% of CO2 emissions, 40% of energy consumption, 13% water consumption and 15% of GDP per year, making green building a source of significant economic and environmental opportunity. Greater building efficiency can meet 85% of future U.S. demand for energy, and a national commitment to green building has the potential to generate 2.5 million American jobs. www.usgbc.org
