VACAVILLE, CA, April 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. John L. Jackson, Principal of the Department of Education Administration for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education administration.
Backed by nearly 30 years of professional experience, Dr. John L. Jackson began his career in corrections as an officer. Having served in a number of varying positions over the course of his career - he was in the U.S. Army and held positions in the tire and automotive industry - Dr. Jackson notes having always felt passionate about the academic field. Growing up in Mississippi, not much importance was placed on educating the African American community, he says.
Motivated by his late mother, Susie Sandidge, Dr. Jackson completed coursework at the University of California. He went on to hold positions as a teacher, vice principal, federal grant coordinator and education auditor. Currently, he holds the position of principal of the Department of Education Administration for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Among the most rewarding aspects of his career is his ability to teach adult inmates to read, write and attain college degrees.
Dr. Jackson holds a doctor of education in educational leadership from California State University, Fresno, earned in 2006. He is pursuing deacon training at the Second Baptist Church in Woodland, California. His professional affiliations include the California Correctional Supervisors Association. Looking ahead, Dr. Jackson aspires to become a published author, an activist and university professor. He would also like to mentor underprivileged minorities and students.
