Fort Worth, Texas State Farm Agent Linda Allen Brings "Share the Road" Message to Kiwanis North Texas Classic Bike Ride on May 8, 2010

    FORT WORTH, TX, April 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Saturday, May 8, the Kiwanis Club of Saginaw will hold its 6th Annual North Texas Classic Bike Ride, an event which is expected to draw more than several hundred participants to take part in bike rides of 10 miles, 20 miles, 40 miles and 60 miles.

The ride will begin and end at Ed Wilkie Middle School at 6129 Texas Shiner Road, Saginaw, Texas. Registration is at 7 am and the ride begins at 8 am. Registration costs $25.

"The ride is our largest fundraiser and involved every member of the Saginaw Kiwanis," says club President Jeff Jensen. "The money the ride raises funds Key Club scholarships at Boswell and Saginaw High Schools, leadership training for Key Club members. Key Club is a service club for high school students that is affiliated with Kiwanis. The ride also helps fund a program to help students at Gilliland Elementary improve their grades," said Jensen. "Last year, that program rewarded 72 students for improving their grades by one letter or more," noted Jensen.

Saginaw, Texas, State Farm agent Linda Allen will be sponsoring the post-ride food pavilion. "Every rider visits the food pavilion, so we are delighted Linda has agreed to sponsor it," said Jensen.

In addition, Linda Allen and her team will be providing information on defensive driving and sharing the road to riders, their friends and families. "Although better safety equipment in cars has helped reduce traffic fatalities in the United States to their lowest level since 1954, there are still over 33,000 deaths every year on America's roads," stated Allen.

For Americans under the age of 25, the number one cause of death is traffic accidents. "Learning how to drive defensively is the key to lowering fatalities, particularly among Texas's drivers with less driving experience," said Allen.

"Kiwanis is particularly focused on serving the community and its young people," said Allen. "We're honored to be a part of the ride and are happy to give information about defensive driving and sharing the road with cyclists to anyone we meet at the event or who stops by our office."
