Tickets for the event, which will get underway at 16:30 local time, are currently priced at EUR65.50 (GBP56.60).

Proof of Green Day's enduring popularity can currently be found in the US, where a musical production based on the American Idiot album recently opened on Broadway.

Taking in $777,860 (GBP506,000) during its first week, the show has been hailed as another triumph for the band and could expose their music to a whole new audience.

The group are set to release an album featuring the cast of the production next month.
