James L. Jennings Honored for Achievements in Business Consulting

James L. Jennings is Cambridge Publishing's Executive of the Year for the 2010/2011 year



    HARVEST, AL, May 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --James L. Jennings, President of Omega Plus, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business consulting.

Formerly of NASA, James L. Jennings led an exemplary 38-year career as a mathematician, director of administration, deputy comptroller, director of resources management, deputy director of the NASA Kennedy Space Center and the director and associate administrator of Institutional and Management at NASA Headquarters. He is an experienced change agent, who made innumerable contributions to the transformation of NASA's culture, mission and workforce. With the ability to access key administrators, build effective networks and create synergistic relationships, Mr. Jennings worked closely with the departments of strategic planning, human capital management and institutional operations. He expertly managed infrastructure management, headquarters operations, diversity and equal opportunity employment services, security, and program protection. Additionally, he oversaw strategic investment, the NASA Shared Services Center and the Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer.

With a career that spanned over four decades, Mr. Jennings' accomplishments with NASA were both impressive and vast. He created the principal strategic blueprint for the NASA Shared Services Center and led the agency's commitment to champion culture change recommended by the Columbia Accident Investigative Board. Mr. Jennings also assisted in NASA's attainment of the first government "green" rating from the Office of Management and Budget. As deputy director, he played a pivotal role in guiding and developing the Kennedy Space Center implementation plan, which was linked to the human exploration and development plan, and developed a multi-year KSC executive workforce plan focused on the identification, development and placement of minorities and women in senior management and executive positions.

After his retirement from NASA, Mr. Jennings forged ahead to establish Omega Plus, Inc., a private consultancy that provides assistance for corporations interested in doing business with the government. Backed by his years of experience in the government sector, Mr. Jennings is uniquely positioned to offer strategic business planning, human capital planning, business operations consolidation, proposal review and advice, and acquisition strategy development. He works extensively with each client to assist with government contracts, business plans and new business development.

Mr. Jennings is a dynamic communicator, motivator and catalyst who utilizes extraordinary his leadership skills to focus the efforts of diverse groups on common goals. His principle of treating everyone fairly and providing opportunities for others has served to enhance his success. In recognition of outstanding professional accomplishments, Mr. Jennings was honored with the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the Exceptional Service Medal and the Equal Opportunity Medal. He was recognized as the Omega Man of the Year and was the recipient of the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive Service Award in 1997 and the Omega State of Florida Outstanding Service Award in 1995. Most recently, he was named Executive of the Year by Cambridge Publishing for the 2010/2011 year.

Mr. Jennings holds a master's degree in administrative science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, earned in 1979. An alumnus of Alabama A&M University, he earned a master of business administration in 1973 and a bachelor of science in mathematics in 1968. He formerly served on the board of directors of the Economic Development Council of Brevard County and LEAD Brevard. His other professional affiliations include the Orange County Industrial Development Agency, Hamilton Holt School, the Management Association of Kenney Space Center, the National Space Club, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Who's Who in Mathematics, the National Advancement of Colored People and Kiwanis International.

Mr. Jennings is married to LaVon M. Jennings and they have two children, Keelan, an electrical engineer, and Keisha, a nurse. They are proud grandparents of Javon, Makaila and Jordon.
