LateRooms.com - Movie Fans Get Ready for Munich Film Festival

The Munich Film Festival will bring thousands of industry professionals and movie fans to the German city in June.

MUNICH, GERMANY, May 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anticipation is growing among German cinema fans ahead of the 2010 Munich Film Festival, which begins next month.

Running from June 25th to July 3rd, the event will feature more than 250 feature films, documentaries, shorts and TV movies being screened in the Bavarian city.

As the largest event of its kind in Germany after the Berlin film festival, Filmfest Munchen regularly attracts over 2,500 industry professionals from around the world.

The programme is divided into several different sections, meaning there should be something to suit the tastes of every film fan staying in Munich hotels for the event.

With a decidedly international flavour, the festival presents films in categories such as new German cinema, American independents, focus on the Far East and visiones Latinas.

This year, the German TV Movie category is already attracting a large amount of attention.

Festival director Andreas Strohl said 18 of the best new features on domestic TV are set to premiere during the event, making it a must-see category.

"We'll be showing the cream of the crop," he commented.

Meanwhile, a section devoted to new Indian cinema has been added to the schedule for 2010, with Mr Strohl describing the participating films as "sensational".

He commented: "Developments like this in cinema don't happen very often.

"These new Indian audiences want more than just escape and dance numbers. They want captivating entertainment with a realistic slant."

Tickets for the screenings range in price from EUR2.50 to EUR8 (GBP2.10 to GBP6.80) and will be available to book online from June 14th.

Filmfest Munchen was established in 1983 and receives over 70,000 submissions each year.

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for Filmfest Munchen is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotels Munchen as early as possible."
