LateRooms.com - Bizarra Set to be Performed in Naples

A theatre soap opera will be performed in Naples in June entitled Bizarra, which was originally written about Buenos Aires but enjoys ties to the Italian city, according to the director.

NAPLES, ITALY, May 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Theatre lovers in the mood for something a little different during their stay at hotels in Naples could head down to the Teatro Sannazaro to see Bizarra, a theatre soap opera.

Running from June 5th to 27th, this unique production written by Argentine writer Rafael Spregelburd has been translated into Italian and will be directed by Manuela Cherubini.

It is the European premiere of this fascinating play following the lives of two women, which involves 45 actors, 20 episodes and 30 hours of fun.

What makes it so original is how it mixes the apparently remote genres of high culture and television escapism.

The organisers pointed out that part of the beauty of it being performed in Italian for a Naples audience is it offers people a chance to see how similar the culture is to Buenos Aires, where the story was written.

Cherubini explained: "The Italians, just like the Argentineans, love the structure of series. It is not casual that we are the first country for the rate of import of South American soap operas. The closeness is obvious."

She went on to highlight the play's central message, which relates to social inequality and the tension this causes in societies.

Each episode is performed at 19:00 (local time) each day - except June 9th, 14th and 21st - with tickets available online.

Another top performance that could be worth seeing around the same time is entitled Football, Football - a play that aims to narrate football through words and dance.

For more information on this event visit the Teatro Festival Italia website or contact the venue on +39 081 404423 65279.

If you're heading to the Bizarra this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Napoli as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
