LateRooms.com - Classic Open Air Returns to Berlin

The music of Puccini, Tchaikovsky and Glenn Miller forms part of the programme at this year's Classic Open Air in Berlin.

BERLIN, GERMANY, June 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Classic Open Air is an annual event that brings top performers from the world of classical music to Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt, one of the grandest public squares in the city.

Taking place for the 19th time this year, the series of concerts offer music fans using Berlin hotels the chance to enjoy a diverse range of works in a grandiose setting.

This year's concerts are scheduled to take place between July 15th and 20th, with the opening night devoted to popular pieces from famous opera and orchestral works.

Hosted by entertainer Herbert Feuerstein, the first concert offers ticket holders the chance to vote in advance for works they would like to hear performed.

There will also be a fireworks display above the Gendarmenmarkt to close the concert in spectacular fashion.

People attending the second night of Classic Open Air can look forward to a programme inspired by Italy's great opera composers of the 19th century, including Verdi, Puccini and Rossini.

On July 17th, musicians will pay homage to Tchaikovsky, with award-winning soloists taking part in a medley of the Russian composer's most celebrated works.

Those who prefer the classic big band sound of Glenn Miller may like to book tickets for the following evening, which is Berlin Swing Night.

Featuring Andrej Hermlin and his Swing Dance Orchestra, this event will feature classic songs from the likes of Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra.

As well as enjoying the music, people attending Classic Open Air will have an opportunity to admire some of Berlin's most famous buildings, including the Konzerthaus and the French Cathedral.

Tickets for the concerts can be purchased online and range in price from EUR37 to EUR97 (GBP31 to GBP82.50).

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for Classic Open Air is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotels Berlin as early as possible."
