SAN DIEGO, CA, June 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tickets are now on sale for the 16th Annual San Diego Festival of Beer returning to the streets of downtown San Diego Friday, September 10 from 6 - 11 p.m. The outdoor event takes place at Columbia and B Streets (across from W San Diego) and is the city's oldest and largest craft beer fest featuring 60 breweries and 150 craft beers.

The 100 percent volunteer-driven festival is organized by San Diego Professionals Against Cancer (SDPAC), a nonprofit comprised of local professionals who volunteer their time to generate monies for cancer research, patient treatment and services. To date, the San Diego Festival of Beer has raised nearly $500,000 for San Diego hospitals and research centers.

On Monday, June 7, SDPAC presented a check for $100,000 to Rady Children's Hospital in support of their new Acute Care Pavilion, opening October 10, 2010. The donation was matched dollar-for-dollar by Ledcor Construction, Inc. resulting in a total donation of $200,000 that will be used towards the purchase of a much-needed new MRI machine.

Sponsored by Sophie 103.7, KYXY 96.5 and Five Star Parking, the San Diego Festival of Beer also includes food, wine and live music on two stages. Discounted parking of just $5 for festival-goers is available at the nearby Columbia Street Garage.

"Last year was a record-breaking year for us," said co-founder of San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, Rachel Cano, who also serves as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Diego. "We had over 5,000 people come out to the event and we were able to raise $85,000 for cancer research, the largest amount the festival has ever raised. This is an amazing event to be a part of; the community really comes together and makes it all possible. We look forward to another record-breaking year in 2010."

The advance ticket price is $30 ($40 at the door) and includes admission into the event, 10 (4 oz) beer tastes and souvenir tasting mugs (for the first 3,000 attendees). Extra beer tastes, wine, merchandise and food are also available for purchase. Reduced price designated driver tickets are available. Those entering the event must be 21 or older.
