LateRooms.com - Enjoy Open-Air Films at Dusseldorf's Frankenheim Kino

The Frankenheim Kino offers the chance to enjoy open-air film screenings in central Dusseldorf.

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, June 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For a month-long period this summer, people staying in Dusseldorf hotels will have the opportunity to attend an open-air movie theatre featuring the largest screen in Germany.

Situated on the Rheinterrasse, the Frankenheim Kino provides visitors with a unique movie-going experience in one of the city's most picturesque waterside locations.

The programme of films runs from July 22nd to August 22nd, with standard tickets priced at EUR10 (GBP8.20).

This year, the schedule offers a diverse set of movies ranging from action blockbusters to romantic comedies, animated features and independent productions.

Mamma Mia!, the hugely popular 2008 film based on the Abba musical, kicks off the programme on July 22nd.

Starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan, the movie has been known to prompt mass singalongs with classic tunes such as Dancing Queen, Super Trouper and Voulez-Vous.

Other films showing in the first week include Prince of Persia, Sex and the City 2 and Shutter Island, the Martin Scorsese thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Cult 1975 comedy opera The Rocky Horror Picture Show is set to take over the screen on July 30th, while Shrek Forever After, the fourth and final film in the animated series, is scheduled for August 7th.

However, the title of the closing night's movie on August 22nd has been kept under wraps to give fans a special surprise.

All screenings begin at sunset, but the cinema area is open for Dusseldorf visitors to soak up the atmosphere from 19:00 local time.

As well as the cinematic attractions, the venue offers plenty of food and drink options, including a pizzeria and a restaurant area where dishes are prepared in front of the guests.

If you're heading to the Frankenheim Kino this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotels Dusseldorf as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
