LateRooms.com - Rome Showcases From Rationalism to Informalism

From Rationalism to Informalism has opened at Rome's new MAXXI art space.

ROME, ITALY, July 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- An exhibition of work by the designer Luigi Moretti is on display at the MAXXI in Rome entitled From Rationalism to Informalism.

Running until November 28th, this stunning show features many different drawings by Moretti of buildings that have already been constructed, as well as those that are as yet unbuilt.

It is not only documents of this sort that visitors from accommodation in Rome can see, since there will be photographs, models and a selection of the architect's theoretical writings available to view.

The artist was born in Rome in 1906 and studied in the city, but the architecture he was involved in throughout his life ranged from complexes in Italy to the Montreal Stock Exchange Tower.

He also founded and directed the arts and architecture magazine Spazio, which ran for seven issues in the 1950s.

The venue explained: "Moretti's interests in the configuration of structural elements and in their spatial representation emerged in many projects from mid-1960s onwards."

Visitors can expect to see about 400 original drawings by the designer at this show, with 50 models also on display, alongside all the other work illustrating evolution of his creations over time.

Tickets for this exhibition can be bought online for EUR11 (GBP8.94), with the art space opening at 11:00 local time from Tuesdays to Sundays and closing at 19:00 every day except Thursdays, when it shuts at 22:00.

For more information on this event visit the MAXXI website or contact the venue on 06 399 67350.

If you're heading to the From Rationalism to Informalism exhibit this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Roma as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
