This intriguing concept attempts to offer two very different exhibits covering the same notional idea - the past.

One side is presented by Juan Luis Moraza and is entitled Return Of The Imaginary - Realism Between XIX and XXI.

The venue explained that his exhibit is presented as an accumulation of images and artefacts that buries history in its layers.

Meanwhile, Rosa Barba offers visitors from Madrid hotels A Curated Conference, which displays a collection of artistic creations relating to how the past can be altered subjectively by people's memory.

"The museum is aware that in order to reintegrate art as an anomaly or symptom, in the style of Didi-Huberman, it must not only explore the histories that it includes, but also the forms in which this historicity is presented."

Tickets to enter MNCARS cost EUR6 (GBP4.95), while this temporary exhibition may require payment of an extra EUR3.

Opening hours are from 10:00 to 21:00 local time every day except Tuesday when it is closed and Sunday, when it shuts at the earlier time of 14:30.

Visitors should be sure to check out Mixed Use Manhattan while they are in the building - an exhibition that investigates the New York island and its artistic history.
