HIA-LI Announces Finalists for Prestigious 16th Annual Business Achievement Awards

Finalists represent top contenders for Long Island-based business awards; winners will be announced during HIA-LI annual business achievement awards gala luncheon, Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Crest Hollow Country Club.



    HAUPPAUGE, NY, July 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- HIA-LI, the recognized voice for business on Long Island, has announced the finalists in its prestigious 16th Annual Business Achievement Awards competition. Winners will be announced during a gala luncheon event held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2010. "Our finalists represent the highest performing and best run companies on Long Island," said Terri Alessi-Miceli, President of HIA-LI. "The competition is broad and takes a multitude of criteria under consideration. We truly feel each of our finalists is among the best companies in the world. The tension is mounting as we anticipate the announcement of the winners at our September 14 gala."

Finalists in the HIA-LI 16th Annual Business Achievement Awards competition in four separate business categories are:
- Large Businesses (100 or more employees): Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers; Grassi & Co., CPAs; Suffolk County National Bank; The Tiffen Company
- Small Businesses (less than 100 employees): Biscotti, Toback & Company, CPA's PC; GreenLogic Energy; Irwin Contracting Inc.; Long Island Fiber Exchange (LIFE)
- Rookie of the Year (companies that have been operating less than five years): Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP; Transparent Health Network; Vetter Environmental Sciences Inc.
- Non-profit Organizations: Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc.; Jefferson's Ferry Lifecare Retirement Community; Long Island Cares, Inc.; YMCA of Long Island, Inc.

A special award for Innovation will be given to Brookhaven National Laboratory.

In choosing the finalists, the selection committee considered multiple factors. The award criteria include:
- Positive employer/employee relations
- Commitment to the growth or betterment of the Long Island business community
- Revenue and profitability trends over the last three years
- Three to five year vision for the company's future

Additional criteria that were considered include:
- Recent outstanding accomplishments
- Technical innovation or innovative processes
- Expansion into new markets
- Industry leadership
- Overcoming adversity

"Our finalists' ability to operate their businesses more effectively, efficiently and creatively is the key to their success," continued Ms. Alessi-Miceli.
