Cupcakes Crash Computers

TLC Channel's wildly popular hit new series, "DC Cupcakes", was responsible for crashing servers on Friday, July 23, 2010, according to an Internet radio website founder.

COLUMBUS, OH, July 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TLC Channel's wildly popular hit new series, "DC Cupcakes", was responsible for crashing servers on Friday, July 23 according to an Internet radio website founder.

TLC's DC Cupcakes is a six-part series that follows sisters and business partners Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis as they run Georgetown Cupcake, a small cupcakery that they have transformed into a huge success.

That success has delivered huge ratings and an incredible fan following. It's so large that their initial ratings beat the entire CW Network's ratings and crashed an Internet radio station!

Shonda Lewis, 2009 Arnold (Schwarzenegger) Classic Fitness winner, and hostess on BlahTalkRadio.Com's Spotlight said she was excited to have the sisters on her show Friday.

"I knew it was going to be special because I started getting a lot of phone calls and Facebook queries about the show," she said.

Lewis, an entrepreneur who has been on the Tyra Show and Essence.Com, also owns www.BlahTalkRadio.com.

"I invited friends in to taste the cupcakes," she said.

Karen "Silkmama.Com" Reynolds, who was there, had tweeted about it on www.Twittermoms.com, whose members started re-tweeting about the show according to Reynolds. "I saw eight other moms immediately re-tweet my initial tweet about the show."

Lewis said the phones started ringing fast and her small crew was scrambling to keep up with the show. "It seemed like there were ten thousand things going on at once," she said.

"After we lost the connection with Katherine the sound dropped, then a loud echo came through the headphones," Reynolds said. "Then that was it, they just shut down the show."

Lewis plans to syndicate her show and views this as a learning lesson. She said realizes she needs to upgrade her studio to handle these situations.

Lewis is using the press about this incident to promote a charity. "I am asking people to give to the James "Buster" Douglas Scholarship (http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-777). Even though I just suffered through a system crash, I can always turn lemons into lemonade by helping other people."
