Lt. General Michael A. Vane Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals

Lt. General Michael A. Vane celebrates three years as a lieutenant general of the United States Army

FORT MONROE, VA, July 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lt. General Michael A. Vane, Director Army Capabilities Integration Center for the United States Army, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in Defense Department force modernization.

Lt. General Vane has served in various positions comparable to chief executive officer, chief operating officer, and senior board member. He has specifically served as commander at all levels to include commanding general at Fort Bliss in Texas for two years. He began by leading a 28-person organization and progressed through every intermediate position to his current position, where he directs a 2500 person organization that affects the entire 1.1 million people in the United States Army. Also inherent in his duties is the oversight and training for the design, development and integration into a joint warfighting environment from concept to capability.

Lt. General Vane holds a Master's Degree in Database Systems Technologies from the Naval Postgraduate School (1985) and a Bachelor of Science Degree from The United States Military Academy, West Point (1975). A member of the United States Handball Association and the Association of the United States Army, he is the recipient of the Saint Barbara Medal, and the Order of Samuel Sharpe Award. Looking to the future, he hopes to become a consultant in the defense industry or start his own business.

The Army Capabilities Integration Center leads the development and integration of force capabilities across the areas of doctrine, organizations, training, material, leadership and education, personnel and facilities for the army within a joint and multinational environment to support joint force commanders.
