Choosing the Right Breast Implant and Cup Size

The Vectra 3-D Breast Imaging System is amazing technology that actually simulates how a breast augmentation will look on you, taking the guesswork out of a decision as critical as choosing the right breast implant.

HOUSTON, TX, August 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you are having breast enhancement surgery this year you probably have a pretty good idea of how you would like to look. But, like most big decisions, be prepared to find that the devil is in the details when it comes to choosing your exact implant and cup size. That is, unless your breast augmentation surgeon is one who uses the most advanced technology to determine your best contour.

Using Imaging Technology to Choose Your Breast Implants

There's nothing like taking the guesswork out of a decision as critical as choosing the right breast implant. The Vectra 3-D Breast Imaging System is amazing technology that actually simulates how a breast augmentation will look on you!

The Vectra 3-D Breast Imaging System takes 3-dimensional images of your breasts and anatomy, and then analyzes the results. You enter implant size and type data, which it applies to your image. It can also correct for asymmetry. Taking your anatomy into consideration it calculates which implants are most compatible with your body size and shape.

These images can help you decide, before surgery, if you really do like the type, size and shape of breasts as they will appear on you, or if they look different from what you imagined. The images can be reviewed during your breast implant consultation to compare and clarify what you have in mind vs. what the surgeon is thinking.

Manual Methods of Choosing Your Breast Implants

Prior to the Vectra 3-D technology the choices of type and size of breast implants were based entirely upon the surgeon's skill and experience in getting specific measurements. He was limited to more subjective evaluations dependent entirely upon his experience, such as what size, shape and type of implant will blend naturally with your body frame.

Older methods involved wearing sizers or rice-filled plastic bags inside your bra for a few days. With the rice bag method you had to adjust the amount of rice in each bag until you got the look you liked.

Once you were satisfied with your look the surgeon measures the amount of rice in each bag or notes the selected sizers along with the other measurements. From this he determines the correct type and size of implant that will achieve those results.

Avoiding Breast Implant Revisions

When 34 percent of breast augmentation procedures are breast implant revsions resulting from patient dissatisfaction with breast implant size, it is nice to get the sneak-preview the Vectra 3-D Imaging offers. Because this is new technology, not all surgeons offer Vectra 3-D Images for choosing the right breast implant and cup size.
