WEST MONROE, LA, September 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Sally A. Drinkhouse, Partner at Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas and Founder and Owner of Amate Spa, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in spa services.

Sally A. Drinkhouse is the owner of Amate Spa in Cuernavaca, Mexico. A part of Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas, the full-service spa brings leisure, wellness and recreation to a property steeped in history. Defined by vaulted arches and semi-circular walls, the resort-cum-museum was built as a monastery in the 1500s. Over the centuries, it also functioned as a sugar plantation - at one point it was the largest, most important sugar mill in all of Mexico - and, perhaps most notably, as the headquarters of Emiliano Zapata during the Mexican Revolution. Other national heroes were also known to have graced the premises, such that cultural and historical tours have become a major attraction of the present Hacienda San Gabriel. For her contributions to the resort, Ms. Drinkhouse was honored by Cambridge Who's Who as a Professional of the Year in Spa Services

A versatile entrepreneur, Ms. Drinkhouse has enjoyed success in the retail and beauty industries as well. Prompted by a love of antiques and other fine things, she left a career as a certified surgical technician and took a giant leap of faith into the retail business with the establishment of her own antique store, Something Special Antiques I & II. Additionally, she owns and operates Maison RĂªve, a full-service salon and spa located in the same building as the store. She also creates her own jewelry and consults on alternative medicine and the energy of crystals and precious stones. Widely respected for her proven expertise in investment and business development, Ms. Drinkhouse has also been honored by Cambridge Who's Who as a Professional of the Year in Antique Retail Sales and as an Entrepreneur of the Year in Salon Management.

Noted especially for her knowledge of antiques, Ms. Drinkhouse sells exquisite pieces that she acquires on trips all over the world; together with her daughter Eva, she has traveled to such fascinating locales as Paris, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Cairo, Milan, Saigon and New Delhi. A true lover of beauty, she has also parlayed her artistic gifts into the construction of Our Lady of Peace Prayer Chapel, a nondenominational place of worship, meditation and prayer that is both a gift to her mother and a tribute to her late husband Michael Drinkhouse, a New York City restaurateur and art connoisseur.

Diligence and a genuine love of people have been the keys to Ms. Drinkhouse's multiple successes. This passion for living is also a trait much-prized by her loved ones. Daughter and constant travel partner Eva, who was a National Merit Scholar and a current New York University undergraduate majoring in anthropology and environmental science, even wrote about her in a school essay: "Her compassion and energy exalt the human race and give faith to people who doubt positive thinking in a negative world." Ms. Drinkhouse looks forward to sharing her colorful life through her autobiography, still in the works, entitled "My Life is a Laugh."

Also active in cultural and philanthropic endeavors, Ms. Drinkhouse sits on the board of the Strauss Theatre Center, is a member of the Millionaire Founders Club for the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation, and volunteers actively with The Royal Dames of Cancer Research. She was honored with a Bart Award for Appreciation of the Arts in 2004.
