LateRooms.com - Enjoy Live Music at JazzFest Berlin

This year's JazzFest Berlin gets underway on November 3rd and features a host of top musicians from around Europe.

BERLIN, GERMANY, September 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lovers of contemporary jazz music have the perfect excuse to book a stay in Berlin hotels later this year.

Taking place between November 3rd and 7th, JazzFest Berlin is due to feature a host of special performances from leading jazz musicians at venues across the city.

One of the highlights of Berlin's musical calendar, this annual event focuses on the best European jazz talent, although acts from around the world will be taking part.

According to the organisers, artistic director Nils Landgren will present a "densely packed programme that is contemporary, but in a tradition-conscious way".

The five-day festival will showcase several varieties of jazz, with the Haus der Berliner Festspiele as its focal point.

Other JazzFest venues include Quasimodo, A-Trane and the Georg-Neumann-Saal of the Jazz-Institut Berlin.

German jazz enthusiasts will see many of the nation's leading musicians perform, including celebrated pianist Joachim Kuhn, veteran saxophonist Emil Mangelsdorff and rising piano star Pablo Held.

The Emil Mangelsdorff Quartett are due to play at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele on the opening night of the festival, with tickets priced at EUR10 (GBP8.30).

Mangelsdorff has been described by the organisers as a musician whose life and work encapsulates "the continuity of German jazz" like few others.

Now 85, the Frankfurt-born jazzman started out on the accordion before studying the clarinet at the famous Hoch Conservatory during the 1940s.

People attending his concert on November 3rd can look forward to enjoying the musician's "tremendously light, relaxed tone" and his interpretation of jazz as an "expression of joviality and vitality", the festival website states.

Tickets for events at JazzFest Berlin are individually priced, with a seat for the main stage at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele costing between EUR10 and EUR45.

Concerts at A-Trane are priced at EUR12, while Quasimodo charges EUR18 for admission.
