/24-7PressRelease/ - August 19, 2006 - "People are often traveling and change e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, "according to Maud Brugman and Funda Gökhan from Amsterdam who thought up 12CommuniGate. "Everybody is always accessible via 12CommuniGate." The subscribers maintain their own personal details, and more importantly they have the function to mask these details. With this they are reachable without making their address information public.
Phoning via 12CommuniGate is possible in different ways: via fixed and mobile phones and also via a so-called softphone which is a software program that lets the computer function as a telephone. Softphone is completely free of charge when subscribers wherever they are in the world use softphone to call each other. " Phoning via softphones is free of charge, but our other call tariffs are kept as low as possible," says Brugman " sometimes even lower than SKYPE for example. We don't have a start tariff or 0900 numbers, you just pay a charge per minute." A private 12CommuniGate subscription costs only E10,--. " 12CommuniGate makes mobile life more attractive."
12CommuniGate is a Dutch initiative but is available in many languages: English and Dutch naturally, but also Chinese and Turkish speakers are communicated to in their own language. "12CommuniGate is for everybody" echoes Brugman. "Simple and easy communication , without frontiers."
With the ascendance of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) , the telecom world is being turned upside down. Internet telecommunication is superseding the traditional circuit switched phone connections.
In the future, telephone numbers may disappear and an e-mail address will be sufficient for all methods of telecommunication.
IMS makes it possible to set up a connection between users for speech, video and data via IP-networks. The worlds of telecom and internet are more and more merging together. Due to this more and more services are becoming available. " In the traditional telecom world it took a relatively long time to think of something new, develop it and bring it to the market." says Toon Norp from TNO . " The integration of telecommunication and internet enables other parties to develop new services. Thanks to IMS and SIP there will be a wave of new applications appearing.
