Alzheimer's Association of Orange County Presents Memory Walks in Fullerton and Huntington Beach

The Alzheimer's Association of Orange County will present its 2010 Memory Walks with a walk at Cal State University Fullerton on Saturday, October 23 and in Huntington Beach on the boardwalk at Beach Blvd and PCH on Saturday, November 6.



    MISSION VIEJO, CA, October 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Alzheimer's Association of Orange County's 2010 Memory Walks begin with a walk at Cal State University Fullerton on Saturday, October 23 and in Huntington Beach on the boardwalk at Beach Blvd and PCH on Saturday, November 6.

One of the nation's largest events to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research programs, the walk empowers participants, giving them an opportunity to take action and raise funds to fight Alzheimer's - a growing epidemic and the fourth leading cause of death in Orange County.

Wahoo's Fish Taco's, Wing Lam and Insco Dico president, Harry Crowell are serving as the event honorary chairs and the honorary grand marshall is CBS News Correspondent Barry Peterson.

Both events will feature two and four mile routes and the Cal State Fullerton location will present dozens of clinical study opportunities for individuals with and without memory impairments. There will also be numerous exhibit booths, a Kids Zone and Doggie Dugout, complete with free doggie bandanas.

There is no fee to participate, but entrants are encouraged to raise funds for the organization through pledge donations. Participants raising over $125 will receive a Memory Walk t-shirt and other items according to the amount raised. Both individual entries and teams of 10 - 12 are encouraged to participate.

Registration for the walk at Cal State Fullerton begins on Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m. The event takes place on the Engineering Lawn and free parking available in parking structure 4.

On Saturday, November 6, the Huntington Beach Memory Walk will take place on the boardwalk at Beach Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the start of the walk at 10:00 a.m. Parking is off the Beach Blvd and PCH entrance and parking fees will apply.
