With 16 years of experience as a special educator for the Poway Unified School District, Jan Van Horne is responsible for assisting children with Individual Education Plans to access the general education curriculum as they progress toward their high school diploma. Currently Jan works with middle school students with autism, health impairments which adversely impacts their learning, speech and language impairments, ADHD, and processing deficits such as auditory, visual memory integration or sensory. She became involved in teaching after gaining experience as a registered dietitian, and she attributes her success to her patience and analytical skills.

Ms. Van Horne is a National Board Certified Teacher in Exceptional Needs. She received a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from National University in San Diego. She ontained a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics & Nutrition from the University of California, Davis. In addition to her formal education, she has obtained numerous teaching credentials through the State of California (Multiple-Subject, Learning Handicapped, CLAD, and Resource Specialist Certificate) after completing coursework through the University of California, San Diego, and National University in San Diego.
