Submittal Exchange Announces New Design Collaboration Software

Submittal Exchange, a collaborative online system for construction communications, introduces Submittal Exchange for Design, providing collaboration and information sharing for team members during the design phase of commercial construction projects.

    MINNETONKA, MN, October 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Submittal Exchange, a collaborative online system for exchanging, reviewing, and archiving construction submittals, RFIs, and other construction communications, today announced a new product, Submittal Exchange for Design , that provides collaboration and information sharing for team members during the design phase of commercial construction projects.

In contrast to traditional FTP sites and file sharing systems, Submittal Exchange for Design offers a central location for comprehensive project information sharing with advanced features such as automatic notifications, detailed upload and download histories, and configurable workflows. In addition, documents shared with Submittal Exchange for Design can be seamlessly transitioned into construction phase use when a project is ready to break ground. The emergence of centralized design and construction information sharing systems, also known as Integrated Project Collaboration (IPC) software, provides increased accountability and access for project team members and is a perfect fit with the increased use of Integrated Project Delivery in the industry.

"Over the past few years we have received many requests for a design phase system from architects, owners, and construction managers who love using Submittal Exchange during construction and who want to use it during the design phase as well," said Matt Ostanik, President of Submittal Exchange. "In early 2009 we launched a beta version of a design product to gather feedback from clients. We have used that feedback to add more features and functionality, and today we're pleased to formally launch Submittal Exchange for Design."

New features offered with Submittal Exchange for Design include:

* Comprehensive design document sharing (drawings, specs, models, etc.)
* Collaborative online whiteboard space
* Automatic synchronization of large files
* Automatic notifications
* Version tracking and detailed upload & download histories
* Project milestones and schedule reminders
* Online photo viewing and commenting
* Seamless transition into construction phase features when design is complete

"We have been using the beta version of Submittal Exchange for Design for the past year, and we're very excited about the new product release," said Jacob Sertich, project architect with Wilkins Hinrich Stober Architects in Kearney, Nebraska. "The features allow our entire design team and our clients to have immediate access to critical information on their projects. The end result is reduced cost, time savings, and a better overall facility."
