Restylane vs. Other Fillers

Restylane is well-liked for its texture and its ability to hold its shape.

WASHINGTON, DC, October 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you are considering using dermal fillers, there are many to choose from, and you may be uncertain about which one will work best for you. Restylane is well-liked for its texture and its ability to hold its shape. It beautiful and natural-feeling results in lip plumping. However, depending on where the filler will be used and your overall goals, another type of filler may better suit your needs.

Restylane
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. It is not animal-based, so it is non-allergenic. It is a gel made up of tiny microspheres. Restylane comes in a form that is smooth and soft enough for lip plumping and use around the mouth, but also in forms that are suitable for use in filling deep folds and replacing lost fat in the face.

In the lips, Restylane can last up to six months. Heavier duty Restylane, used in other parts of the face, can last for about one year.

Juvederm
Juvederm is very similar to Restylane. It is used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and acnes scars. It can be used to improve the contours of the face and for lip plumping. Juvederm is also a hyaluronic filler. It is not made of the microspheres, and can produce even smoother results in the lips than Restylane.

The results of Juvederm also last about six months to one year depending one the application and weight of the product used.

Elevess
Elevess is a high-concentration hyaluronic acid filler that contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic. The local anesthetic makes for a more comfortable procedure but does slightly increase the risk of allergic reaction. Elevess can be used for wrinkles and folds, fine lines, and acnes scars. It can be used around the mouth, but is not the ideal choice for lip plumping.

Elevess can also improve your skin's ability to hydrate itself. The results of Elevess last about six months.

Radiesse
Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. It stimulates collagen production, utilizing your body's own ability to restore plumpness and youthful contours. It is used fill folds and wrinkles, and to reduce sagging. Radiesse is not ideal for lip plumping.

The results of Radiesse are long-lasting, one to two years, but some patients will need a touchup about ten weeks after the initial injections to see the full results.
