Quinn Direct Honours Pass Plus Car Insurance Discount for Young Drivers

    LONDON, ENGLAND, November 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The usefulness of the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Pass Plus test came in to question last week* when the BBC reported how some big name insurers are no longer offering discounted car insurance to new motorists who have completed the Pass Plus course.

The report highlighted how just four out of 13 providers listed on the DSA website as offering benefits to new motorists who have completed the Pass Plus test still do actually offer discounted young driver insurance. Some young car insurance providers are stopping all discounts while others are limiting them.

Pass Plus is a training course aimed at new drivers and consists of six modules. These six modules are driving in all weathers, driving on motorways, driving on dual carriageways, driving around town, driving in the countryside and driving at night. The aim of these modules is to build the skills and knowledge of a new driver.

Last month the Association of British Insurers released research** that called for a minimum of a one-year learning period to reduce the high number of serious injuries and deaths involving younger drivers. The survey highlighted that three-quarters of people believe that this would reduce young driver road casualties.

And with figures showing that young drivers are more likely to be involved in a car crash - BRAKE, the road safety charity say that one in eight driver licence holders in the UK is aged 25 or under, but one in three motorists who die is under 25*** - it is unlikely that cheap car insurance for young drivers is anywhere on the horizon.

However, car insurance specialist Quinn Direct say that they will continue to offer discounts on young driver insurance for those who have successfully completed a Pass Plus Course within one year of receiving their full driving licence.****
