As an assistant superintendent of the Hendrick Hudson School District, Mr. Catalan manages all of the financial and operational business of the education system for the district. He became involved in his profession because he decided to leave the financial sector and go into education to help high-need students. He attributes his success to his level of education and hard work.

Mr. Catalan received a master's degree in school business administration from Mercy College in 2006, an MBA with a concentration in finance from the Columbia Graduate School of Business at Columbia University in 1986, and a bachelor's degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico in 1984. He is a member of the Association of School Business Officials International. In 2007, he was named Assistant Superintendent of the Year in New York State.
