Chalmers was one of the 12 finalists who appeared on the Any Dream Will Do show in 2007.

Despite eventually finishing in fifth place, he was later selected to play the lead role in Bill Kenwright's national tour of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
