Stephanie Zimbalist Shines As Katharine Hepburn In "Tea At Five"

Former "Remington Steele" star Stephanie Zimbalist is taking St. Paul by storm with her uncanny portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in the stage production "Tea At Five".

/24-7PressRelease/ - HENDERSON, NV, September 23, 2006 - Stage and television actress Stephanie Zimbalist is wowing audiences with her portrayal of the legendary Katharine Hepburn in "Tea At Five". Currently appearing at the Ordway Center's McKnight Theatre, "Tea At Five" chronicles the life of one of the most prolific actresses the world has ever known.

From the moment she steps on the stage, Zimbalist captures the attention of theatergoers with the unique style and unmistakable fire of the woman studios branded as "box-office poison" and audiences worldwide labeled a Hollywood icon. Her delivery and mannerisms as Hepburn are flawless and could only be matched by Kate herself.

"Tea At Five" opens in 1938, five years after 31-year-old Hepburn's first Oscar-winning performance in "Morning Glory". Following a few box-office failures, she anxiously waits for word on whether she will play 'Scarlett O'Hara' in the upcoming David O. Selznick screen production of "Gone With The Wind". While waiting with anticipation, she reminisces about her childhood, her education and her rise and fall in Hollywood.

The second act opens in 1983 after Hepburn was injured in serious auto accident. During her long recovery, she pauses to reflect on her tumultuous life on the stage and screen as well as her unforgettably heartbreaking romance with Spencer Tracy. When the ravages of Parkinson's disease slowly begin to destroy her body, her spirit and tenacity become even stronger. She now walks with a cane and speaks with an exceedingly shaky voice but one thing is clear: the legend of Katharine Hepburn will live forever.

"Tea At Five" starring Stephanie Zimbalist is scheduled to run through October 1st in the Ordway Center's McKnight Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Although there have been reports that Zimbalist is doing the national tour, that is actually not the case. "I'm having a wonderful time playing Kate but have committed to a variety of other projects and unfortunately, my schedule won't allow me to continue past my performances in St. Paul."

Stephanie Zimbalist has been acting for nearly four decades. Her love for the theater began at the age of twelve while attending the Brown Ledge Camp in Mallett's Bay, Vermont. She took the stage at age 15 as the lead in "Little Mary Sunshine". Her resume includes stage appearances in "Festival", "The Tempest", "The Cherry Orchard", "The Baby Dance", "The Crimson Thread", "Ad Wars", "Stop The World, I Want To Get Off", "My One and Only" and "The Night of the Iguana" with her father Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., 31 made-for-television movies and guest appearances in television shows such as "Judging Amy", "Touched By An Angel" and "Crossing Jordan". Zimbalist starred in the NBC hit series "Remington Steele" and earned a Golden Globe nomination for her work in the Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation "Caroline?"
