NEWPORT, OR, December 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy Giuliani, a retired Language Arts, Publications and Journalism Teacher of Lincoln County Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in journalism education.
With 36 years of experience teaching secondary school-level journalism, Nancy Giuliani enriched many young minds on the creation of newspaper materials and yearbooks. She taught English and publication to ninth- through 12th-grade students, and instructed courses in the dramatic arts and health education. Ms. Giuliani, who has worked as a newspaper reporter and editor, also teaches related subjects to academically challenged students. The recipient of multiple industry honors, she was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award in April 2009 by the Journalism Education Association, with an award in 2008 by the Oregon Journalism Association and the Northwest Press Association, and with a citation for her contributions and years of service in 2007 by the Oregon Education Association. Though officially retired, Ms. Giuliani intends to continue as an active component to excellent high school journalism education. She will also remain affiliated with related organizations at the state and national levels.
In 1974, Ms. Giuliani received a master's degree in literature and journalism, plus 90, from Oregon State University. She is a member of the Oregon Journalism Education Association, the Oregon Education Association, the Journalism Education Association, the National Journalism Education Association, the National Education Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the American Association of University Women, the National Scholastic Press Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and P.E.O. Sisterhood. Additionally, she was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2004 and 2005, and National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teachers in 2005/2006. She was also nominated as an Outstanding English Teacher by the University of Oregon, Eugene, in 2006.
