John Coughlin's Compassion Resounds throughout Gianna's House Inc.
Press Release December 30, 2010
Mr. Coughlin provides sober living communities for substance abusers

WAREHAM, MA, December 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John W. Coughlin III, President of Gianna's House Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in substance abuse management.

Mr. Coughlin is an entrepreneur who remains professionally and personally committed to the process of recovery. Following the sudden death of his four month old daughter, Gianna Rae Taylor, in 2006, Mr. Coughlin entered into recovery himself and quickly became aware of the urgent need for quality substance abuse treatment. Therefore, in memory and honor of his daughter, Mr. Coughlin developed the non-profit corporation Gianna's House, Inc. Since his company's inception two short years ago, Mr. Coughlin has led the firm in an impressively rapid succession of expansions. Having started out as a one-house substance abuse recovery home, it has flourished to encompass eight houses throughout southeastern Massachusetts. Each site offers counseling, psychopharmacology, and access to addiction specialized medical services—with a focus on maintaining a safe atmosphere conducive to recovery.

The structured program offered through Gianna's House Inc. addresses the comprehensive needs of individuals: mind, body, and spirit. Mr. Coughlin continues to remain solution focused and has developed countless ways of assuring that those with the intrinsic motivation to remain sober are provided an opportunity to once again lead a healthy productive life. For instance, Mr. Coughlin has started the T.J. Voller Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial assistance for those without monetary resources (in memory of the late T.J. Voller, a dear friend of Mr. Coughlin's from Raynham, Mass). Additionally, he started Gianna's House Workforce—a labor ready program that employs residents of Gianna's House for various jobs within the community, which helps them build a sense of confidence and worth, while allowing them to remain busy with hands on work. As the president of the organization, Mr. Coughlin bears the responsibility of establishing local contacts with referral sources to ensure effective services for his clients, assessing potential clients to identify goals and challenges, participating in and encouraging improvement activities, and monitoring client progress and development. Moreover, he facilitates fundraising events including The Annual Walk for Recovery on the Cape Cod Canal, and Gianna's Comedy Night.

Mr. Coughlin attributes his success to his higher power he likes to call God, a loving and supportive family- and there is also much to be said about his live-in social worker fiance Catie. With all of these great support systems in place, he is still a dedicated businessman who is a "dollars and cents type of guy," Coughlin reports. By preparing cost analysis to determine the feasibility of pursuing local development opportunities, and working within an established expense budget, he has been able to put forth efforts toward helping more addicts. His passion is reflective of his own journey to become sober; by helping himself he has gained the tools necessary to help others.

Alongside Gianna's is the new developments of Hopewell Recovery Service. Mr. Coughlin and his partner Brian Kenney are opening properties in the recovery field from Brookline, Mass to Sarasota, Fla. Their comprehensive approach to recovery will assist with successful reintegration into a productive life and encourage residents to develop and attain meaningful personal, career, and recovery goals. Mr. Coughlin stands steadfast that safety is the utmost number one priority, and that is why he has developed Atlantic K9 Search and Recovery. Currently the company only has two employees, himself and his German Shepherd named Geist. Geist is a highly trained search dog who can pick up the scent of narcotics, allowing Mr. Coughlin to keep his sober living facilities the safest on the east coast, he boasts. Geist has been scent trained and comes from a long line of working dogs. "He loves it, German Shepherds need a purpose... and none better than keeping addicts and alcoholics honest," says Mr. Coughlin. With the support of his fiance, Catherine, Mr. Coughlin intends to continue expanding his organizations in the future.
