Track and Field News: Oxygen4Energy Athlete, Kellie Wells Ties American Record in 55m Hurdles

Oxygen4Energy athlete, Kellie Wells, ties the American record in the 55m Hurdles set in 1989 by one of the greatest female track and field athletes of all time, Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

LAKE FOREST, CA, February 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In her first event of the season, Oxygen4Energy athlete, Kellie Wells, tied the American Record in the 55m Hurdles set in 1989 by one of the greatest female track and field athletes of all time, Jackie Joyner-Kersee. This record tying performance was made at the 2011 Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track Meet in Gainesville, Florida, where Wells ran a blistering 7.37 sec final to tie the 12 year standing record. What makes this performance so noteworthy is that it comes so early in the season when most track athletes are not running even close to their peak speeds.

According to Wells, "This is definitely the most memorable achievement for me in my track career. Tying Jackie Joyner-Kersee's record is a great honor for me. I always looked up to her as a young athlete and dreamt that one day I would come close to achieving the kind of success she has achieved in her incredible career. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction."

After the 2010 season, Wells was introduced to the portable breathing oxygen from Oxygen4Energy. After using it in a few workouts, she immediately fell in love with the product and decided to join the Oxygen4Energy team.

"I've been incorporating oxygen into my training for a few months now and it has made a huge difference for me. My training capacity has increased dramatically and I'm recovering much faster as well. The way that oxygen seems to buffer lactic acid is amazing. I've never felt this good in training before and this performance is evidence that everything I'm doing in training is paying off."

Craig Inaba, President of Oxygen4Energy stated, "We're really excited to have Kellie on our roster and just glad that our product helps her get the most out of her training. If Kellie is capable of this level of performance this early in the season, we are really excited to see how she performs after having a few more months of training under her belt."
