Dahlin Group Architecture Planning Announces New Award Winners, Predicts Multi-Faceted Design Year

Renowned firm reports uptick in 2011, citing dynamic China markets and revitalizing economy at home.

PLEASANTON, CA, February 17, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dahlin Group Architecture Planning is delighted to announce its latest round of award winners, in the 2010 Best In American Living Awards (BALA). A highlight of the annual International Builders Show, BALA provides a snapshot of the homebuilding industry's best and brightest; winners were announced in January.

"BALA focuses exclusively on American housing, whether you're talking custom, high-rise apartment, remodel or urban smart growth communities," said BALA Chair and judge, Victor Mirontschuk, AIA. "Our 2010 winners emerged from an exceptionally competitive group of submissions, and Dahlin Group can be rightly proud to be part of that circle."

"We are gratified by these awards, and by the sense of renewal and excitement we believe they forecast for homebuilding," said Doug Dahlin, Dahlin Group founder and president. "With the robust level of our work in China, we are expanding our U.S. staff levels. This will drive the design innovations we see as critical to the full and vibrant recovery of our domestic housing markets."

Dahlin Group BALA honors include:

Platinum Award/Custom Home 4001-6500 square feet--Dahlin Group took the highest award for custom homes 4,001 to 6,500 square feet, for its design of a private residence in Napa, California. The design also captured BALA's Best In Pacific nod, attesting to its tribute to the time-honored aesthetics of the Pacific region.

Using art, wine and Napa Valley views as its driving forces, the winning design assembles shed and gable structures with simplicity and sophistication. The result is an intriguing series of spaces for home, gallery and studio, plus green measures that include pedestal-mounted solar panels. "This home doesn't demand the spotlight," said judges. "It just takes center stage."

Gold Award/Detached Home 3001-4000 square feet--Residence Three of RockRose at The Foothills was recognized for charming, upscale design that simultaneously delivers an impressive level of green in production housing.

Silver Award/Detached Home 3001-4000 square feet--Residence Two of RockRose also earned BALA judges' notice. Designed for Brookfield Homes of Del Mar, California, RockRose has also won kudos in the 2010 Gold Nugget Awards and the SoCal Awards.
