"Hafiz Osman's Birthday Surprise!", an art exhibition, in Singapore, to surprise him on his birthday.

Hafiz Osman, a Singaporean artist has made a success of the art business. This young artist, 26, has found the formula for success in the art business - but he is not telling. His works sell so well in Singapore, that none has made it out of Singapore, just yet.

/24-7PressRelease/ - October 23, 2006 - Hafiz Osman, the Singaporean born artist, and La Salle-SIA College of the Arts, Fine Arts Graduate, is having an exhibition. The secret is, however, that he doesn't know, yet. The exhibition, entitled, "Hafiz Osman's Birthday Surprise!" is just that, a birthday surprise - and he has no idea about it. Hafiz Osman will be invited to a birthday party, only to discover that this "birthday party" is the opening to an exhibition of some of his works of the past few years. http://scientific-child-prodigy.blogspot.com/2006/10/hafiz-osmans-art-birthday-surprise.html

Hafiz Osman is a painter, sculptor, installation artist, interior designer and object designer.

As a painter, his work is contemporary and abstract, dealing mainly in colour and the work of the unconscious. His works suggest things to the viewer, without depicting them directly, in concrete forms.

As sculptor, he works in metal and wood. In the former medium, he fashions figures filled with energy, in the latter, he likes to seek out natural pieces of wood, that reflect what he has to say.

His installations are mainly for public spaces, and are designed to enhance the environment with vibrantly coloured pieces that are part of the fabric of the building.

He likes to design chairs. For examples of some of them go to: http://scientific-child-prodigy.blogspot.com/2006/10/interior-designs-and-object-designs-of.html

He has crafted a successful niche for himself in the art business and is one of the few young Singaporean artists who is actually making a living from his art. Perhaps this is because he realizes it can be a business, as well as an art. His work has found a receptive audience in the homes of the richer Singaporeans and is found adorning the walls of many an impressive condominium or landed property, as houses are known in Singapore. He has also found favour in entertainment establishments in Singapore, being called in to design their environment, to create a visually welcoming space. http://scientific-child-prodigy.blogspot.com/2006/10/paintings-sculptures-installations-art.html

Since the exhibition is a surprise, only a small selection of his paintings is accessible, for the others are in his keeping.

The exhibition runs from October 22nd 2006 to November 2nd 2006 at the Gone Fishing Caf in Chu Lin Road, Hillview, a venue which has evolved over the years from an independent and relaxing caf into an alternative arts venue, hosting exhibitions of art and photography, as well as lectures by philosophers and the like. It is a rarity in Singapore to have such a cultured ambience in a caf . A selection of Hafiz Osman's work will hang on the walls throughout the twelve day period. Should anyone wish to commission a work for their homes, or work places, contact Syahidah Osman Cawley, and she will make the arrangements.
