DirectRooms.com - The Panagbenga Festival Presents New Theme for 2011 in Baguio

    PHUKET, THAILAND, February 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Although the festival launched on 16th November 2010, the official opening is 1st February 2011. Now Mauricio Domogan has launched it, the mayor of Baguio City, the festivities can finally begin. The festival will continue until 6th March 2011.

The Panagbenga Festival, also known as the Baguio Flower Festival, takes places in the streets of Baguio City. Throughout the event, there is dancing in the streets, flower displays and floats.

For 2011, the creators of the festival have given it a new theme. The new theme is "the environment and community in harmony".

The festival will showcase the culture of Baguio City in many ways. Many colourful displays will exemplify Filipino culture. Children will dance in the streets wearing flower costumes, and traditional drum and bugle music will accompany them.

One highlight of the festival is the flower float festival. Over two tons of fresh local flowers are displayed in the streets.

Other highlights include the Pre-Valentine Event, which will take place on 13th February. The Pre-Valentine Event is finished off with the Fluvial Float Parade. Later in February, the Grand Float Parade and Grand Panagbenga Street Parade will occur. The Panagbenga Festival will end on March 6th with a closing ceremony and fireworks display.

Visitors to the area are certain to enjoy the cultural displays and beautiful colourful flowers that are native to Baguio City. The dancing and parades will complete the cultural experience.
