In March 2011, Nameans (founded by Masahiro Kobayashi) released the name translation specialist service Nameans.

NAGAHAMA, JAPAN, April 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nameans may be the world's first name translation specialist service. This service checks out all the meanings of names in foreign languages, whether it be a baby name, a product name, or even a company name.

When an applicant wants to know the meanings of a word in other languages and submits a name, native speakers registered with Nameans in every language search for words with the same or similar pronunciations. Their responses are compiled by Nameans staff and sent to the applicant in PDF format.

Examples of How Nameans is Used

Nameans is mainly use for naming babies, products, and companies.

For example, the name Kate has a similar pronunciation to a word that means knitting wool in Japanese.
The name Moco has the meaning of slime, or mucus in Spanish.

Use Nameans when naming so you do not end up with a name that has an unexpected meaning in other countries.
