Entitled Artists of the North, the collective installation is the largest annual exhibition and sale of artwork in TNQ, featuring some of the top work produced by members of the Cairns Art Society.

Mayor Val Schier has been lined up to officially open the event on May 13th 2011, while associate professor Stephen Torre is set to give a speech on the launch night under the heading Imagination in the Tropics.

Awards will also be presented across a diverse range of categories, with visitors to the exhibition deciding on the winning entries. Successful participants will be announced at the closing of the show on June 3rd.

Artists of the North will be open at the Tanks Arts Centre from 09:00 to 16:30 local time every day. Admission is free.

The venue is located on Collins Avenue in the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precinct, just five minutes' drive from the city's central business district.
