Gourmet Mac and Cheese Bar Debuts at The Eatery

Fort Worth family restaurant offers "Weigh and Pay" mac and cheese bar on Thursdays. Ask to have it browned on top just like Grandma's.

FORT WORTH, TX, May 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If the idea of homemade macaroni and cheese evokes happy memories and makes your tummy growl, you will want to be at The Eatery on Thursday. Co-owners, Don and Cindy Gifford are inviting guests to belly up to their family restaurant's new gourmet mac and cheese bar that features an array of delicious ingredients and an offer to "brown it on top" tableside.

Fans of the comfort food dish will be able to pile on the pasta. Add a favorite grated cheese (cheddar, American, or parmesan). Pick a meat (Virginia baked ham, crumpled bacon, smoked sausage or The Eatery's special taco meat) and spike it with any of the bar's other fresh ingredients (crumpled blue cheese, feta cheese, sauteed mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, olives or fresh garden-grown basil and spinach).

"Items on the mac and cheese bar are weigh and pay, with all the items competitively priced per pound for dine in or take out," said Cindy Gifford.

Other items on the gourmet bar include creamed corn, steamed fresh broccoli, spinach, fresh cut pico, fresh cut tomatoes, sugar snap peas and The Eatery's yummy cinnamon apples.

"Mac and cheese is a trendy food right now," said The Eatery Chef Don Gifford, noting that restaurants like S'Mac in Manhattan's East Village and The Mac Shack in Las Vegas have been mixing new flavors with an old favorite to make it more appealing to adult taste buds. "We look forward to putting some wild card fresh ingredients out on the bar and invite folks to tell us what they would like to see added," said Chef Don Gifford.

"The Eatery serves people who want to eat a hearty homemade meal in a friendly place and busy people who want to take home a made-from-scratch meal," said Connie Sanders, lead server. "The new gourmet mac and cheese bar will make it easy for folks to get a tasty meal for a reasonable price." Connie added that she can't wait to "brown it on top" for her favorite guests.

The Eatery is located at 3257 N. Beach St. in Fort Worth and is open weekdays from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Eatery will be opening for dinner on Saturdays, starting in June. For more information, call 682-647-0606 or visit www.gototheeatery.com.
