Alcester Training Manager Scoops National Care Award

Helping Hands training manager Julie Mills has won a National Great British Care Award.

WARWICKSHIRE, ENGLAND, May 31, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Training manager Julie Mills, who works for leading Alcester based live-in care provider Helping Hands, is celebrating after winning a national Great British Care Award.

The prestigious awards ceremony, which was held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, is a celebration of excellence across the care sector and pays tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Julie, who lives in Redditch, has worked for Helping Hands for more than nine years and heads up the training team at its new Minnerva Mill Innovation Centre in Alcester. She successfully sailed through the regional heats before being shortlisted for the national final where she was triumphant, beating off stiff competition from five other finalists to be presented with 'The Care Trainer Award'.

On receiving her award Julie said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have won such a prestigious award, something that wouldn't have been possible without the backing of such a fantastic team. At Helping Hands we work extremely hard to ensure the training programme that both new and existing carers undertake ensures our customers receive the highest levels of care at all times and it's fantastic to be recognised in this way."

The Care Trainer Award acknowledges the importance of the trainer within the care service and looks for a person who has shown incredible enthusiasm and determination in identifying training and development needs of care staff, establishing rolling training programmes, searching for and gaining funding and proving their ability to enthuse and energise staff.

Tim Lee, chief executive of Helping Hands, adds: "This is a fantastic achievement and testament to Julie's hard work, her pivotal role in the transition to the Minerva Mill centre and why our training is recognised as being among the best in our industry."
