WSO2 Summer School Features Free Class on WSO2 Stratos Approach to PaaS for Enabling an Enterprise SOA in the Cloud

Webinar-based training on July 20, 2011 compares alternative PaaS approaches and examines how to seamlessly deploy applications on-premise and in the cloud.

PALO ALTO, CA, July 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provides a flexible and cost-effective means of extending an enterprise service-oriented architecture (SOA) to the cloud. However, not all PaaS offerings are the same. Some only serve narrow needs--for example focusing solely on integration or application development. Others take a proprietary approach that can make migrating from the PaaS prohibitively difficult and costly. By contrast, WSO2 has extended its entire enterprise middleware platform to the cloud with WSO2 Stratos (http://wso2.com/cloud/stratos?071411p). The 100% open source WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform enables an enterprise SOA to be deployed on a private PaaS, public PaaS, or hybrid environment, giving IT professionals unprecedented deployment flexibility.

IT architects and developers can learn how to navigate WSO2's middleware platform by attending the interactive online class, "Platform-as-a-Service: The WSO2 Way". The two-hour session is being offered at no cost as a part of the WSO2 SOA Summer School program (http://wso2.org/training?071411p). It will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific. To participate, register at http://tinyurl.com/school-PaaS.

The Platform-as-a-Service class will:

* Examine cloud deployment challenges faced by SOA architects and developers in the enterprise.

* Answer common questions about PaaS and software-as-a-service (SaaS).

* Introduce WSO2 Stratos (http://wso2.com/cloud/stratos?071411p), and explain how it offers IT professionals the flexibility to deploy their own private PaaS or run on a public PaaS hosted by WSO2.

* Explore how the common architecture shared by WSO2 Stratos and the award-winning WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform (http://wso2.com/products?071411p) enables a smooth migration between cloud and on-premise deployments.

* Demonstrate key cloud deployment concepts using WSO2 Stratos.

Leading the class are Afkham Azeez, WSO2 director of architecture and an elected member of the Apache Software Foundation (http://wso2.com/about/team/afkham-azeez?071411p), and Kathiravelu Pradeeban (http://wso2.com/about/team/kathiravelu-pradeeban?071411p), WSO2 software engineer. In addition to their track records in product innovation, Azeez and Pradeeban bring proven expertise in developing on-premise and cloud applications.
