SAN DIEGO, CA, July 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tickets are now on sale for the 17th Annual San Diego Festival of Beer. The festival is the largest fundraiser of San Diego Professionals Against Cancer and 100 percent of the proceeds are donated to local cancer organizations. To date, the San Diego Festival of Beer has raised and donated more than $530,000 for San Diego hospitals, research centers and patient services.

San Diego's Only Beer Festival for a Cause
On July 18, SDPAC presented a check for $20,000 to Cancer Angels-San Diego (CASD) in support of their need for food cards for San Diegans facing cancer. The donation will support CASD's efforts to help Stage IV cancer patients who are facing insurmountable obstacles due to cancer treatments and will provide one year of consistent help and emergency funds for families and individuals.

SDPAC also presented Rady Children's Hospital with a $30,000 check for a PICC Line Ultrasound and a morgue cart. The PICC Line Ultrasound is much-needed for children who need medication and chemotherapy and is specially made for children facing cancer treatments.

"We started this festival 17 years ago as a fundraising event that would be different from anything else out there," said Co-Founder of San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, Rachel Cano, who also serves as Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Diego. "San Diego has become known as one of the best craft beer regions in the nation. When we first started we had maybe a dozen brewers and we've grown to over 60. Each year, it gets bigger and better. And the best part is the money we've raised for local cancer charities, to date more than $530,000. It's amazing to watch the San Diego community come together for such a worthy cause."
