Ohio Attorney Mark Jump Provides Homeowners with Ways to Fight Foreclosure

Jump Legal Group attorney, Mark Jump, helps clear up the confusion homeowners have about the foreclosure process. The sad truth is that banks would rather foreclosure on the homeowner than give them a loan modification, but there is hope.

COLUMBUS, OH, August 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mark Jump, of Jump Legal Group in Columbus, Ohio, is one of Ohio's most experienced foreclosure defense attorneys. Over the recent past, on behalf of his clients, Mr. Jump has taken on mortgage giants including, Chase, Wells Fargo, GMAC, Citi, and Bank of America. Mr. Jump has been featured in interviews about foreclosure in Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal, and The Columbus Dispatch.

According to Mr. Jump, many homeowners are confused by the mixed messages they are receiving from the banks and the media. "Homeowners are told to contact their bank at the first sign of financial difficulty and that the bank will work with them. They are being told that banks don't want to foreclose. Unfortunately, the reality is that banks have been pushing foreclosures through without even taking the time to evaluate homeowners' paperwork. Many of these foreclosures are occurring at the same time that the homeowners believe they are working with the bank on a loan modification."

"I've had people call my office who have diligently sent in all the bank's requested loan modification paperwork, and the bank has been telling them for months that they will be approved for a loan modification, and these homeowners suddenly get a notice of foreclosure. Sadly, this is not unusual."

When asked what homeowners should know about the foreclosure process, Mr. Jump offers this advice:

At the first sign of financial trouble, you should contact your mortgage company.

At the same time, you should also contact an experienced foreclosure defense attorney.

"When a homeowner retains our law firm early in the process, our impact can be much greater and the entire process goes more smoothly. Homeowners who have an experienced attorney representing them are much more likely to see favorable results such as a loan modification with payments that the homeowner can actually afford."

Don't assume that you will get a loan modification from the bank just because the bank tells you that you will qualify. "In many of these banks, one department does not know what another department in the same bank is doing. One department might actually be processing your loan modification papers while at the same time, another department is moving forward on your foreclosure. The next thing you know, you have Sheriff's sale papers stuck to your front door."

"I have also been retained by homeowners who have worked with their bank for months trying to get a loan modification and a payment that they can afford, only to have the bank respond by asking for higher monthly payments and threatening foreclosure."

Jump goes on to say that many struggling homeowners enter into trial loan modification agreements and begin making reduced payments during this trial period, only to have their home foreclosed upon.

"They are led to believe that if they make these payments they will be granted a permanent loan modification. Many of these homeowners are then given a notice of foreclosure and are eventually foreclosed upon. What's going on is really unjust. We are talking about peoples' homes and Ohio is going through tough economic times. Banks should work with families instead of throwing them out of their homes. Clients hire us to put pressure on the bank to get the bank to do what is reasonable and right."
