Company Dedicated to Promoting Person-Centered Elder Care Launches Website

See Me Communications, a San Luis Obispo company dedicated to creating products to personalize and improve dementia and elder care, has launched a new website to advertise its Life Story Board.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA, August 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- See Me Communications is proud to announce the launch of a new website designed to advertise its product, the Life Story Board, and offer information about the importance of personalized care for the elderly (www.seemecommunications.com). See Me Communications is a company that enriches the lives and improves the quality of elder care for those living in nursing facilities by promoting individualized, person-centered care. The Life Story Board facilitates communication and is designed to provide caregivers a window into the lives of the people they care for and a basis upon which to build therapeutic relationships.

"During my career as a hospice nurse, I saw firsthand the difference that personalized care and communication makes for individuals living in nursing homes, dementia care facilities, and other healthcare settings," says See Me Communications founder and president Lisa Erbstoesser. "When caregivers get to know a patient or resident and form a connection, you can see a marked increase in the person's overall well being, happiness, and quality of life. The purpose of the Life Story Board is to give caregivers background information and insight into a person's life and personality in order to foster communication, understanding, and a personal relationship."

When people enter a nursing home, memory care center or other type of healthcare facility, they have often lost the ability to effectively communicate, which can make it difficult for their caregivers to get to know them and learn about their lives - that's where the Life Story Board can help. The Life Story Board is a visual life review display that, along with a picture, contains pertinent information about a person, such as the names of family members; career, military and educational background; interests and hobbies; and a list of "favorites" which enables caregivers to intervene on a patient's behalf in very specific ways.

"Our new Web site provides a detailed explanation of what the Life Story Board is, and how it improves the quality of elder and dementia care," says Tim Erbstoesser, co-founder of See Me Communications. "The site highlights the benefits that the Life Story Board offers to patients, family members, caregivers, and health care professionals. There are also sample Life Story Boards on the site and information about how it facilitates person-centered elder care."

See Me Communications (www.seemecommunications.com) mission is to improve and honor the lives of frail, elderly, and disabled people whose voice and essence may be hidden from their caregivers. Its life review product, the Life Story Board, is designed to hang in clear view near a resident/patient where it will foster conversation, and enhance the care community experience of residents, caregivers, family members and visitors. Studies show that the single most important factor affecting the quality of life for a person in a nursing home is the nature of the relationships he or she has with caregivers. By improving communication with and understanding of an individual the Life Story Board helps to build and nourish those crucial relationships.
