DFW Elite Toy Museum Grand Opening to Benefit Canine Rescue to be held from 6 to 9pm on Thursday, October 20, 2011

Haltom City's toy museum, home to rare toys and models, will open its doors for a special evening to benefit Cavalier Rescue USA

HALTOM CITY, TX, October 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Thursday, October 20, DFW Elite Toy Museum will hold a Grand Opening Gala from 6 pm to 9 pm. One hundred percent of a $10 donation from attendees will be given to Cavalier Rescue USA.

Admission includes museum tour, valet parking, drinks, hors de oeuvres and complimentary photos taken in a fun photo booth. The museum has a casual seating area with books on toys and dogs, a special exhibits gallery with ships from the Malcolm Forbes Collection and even a section devoted to dog antiques, including a turn-of-the century dog carrier, a hundred-year-old dog window tapper and many vintage 1950s battery-powered dog toys.

Entrepreneur and museum owner Ron Sturgeon has always loved exotic automobiles, collecting, and vintage toys. Sturgeon brings his Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Willie, Dixie and Lance, to the office and museum every day.

The museum is canine friendly. "Dogs are welcome to visit the museum and meet our official greeters, Willie, Dixie and Lance." The museum is open to the public, and admission is free.

"Collecting toys for the museum has been a joy. I've made barn finds and met some extraordinary friends," said Sturgeon. His favorite toys in the museum's collection are the Michelle Conti models and the vintage WW II die cast Tippco toys.

Ron fosters King Charles spaniels and supports rescue groups in Dallas-Fort Worth. All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Cavalier Rescue USA because DFW Drive Your Dream, one of Ron's businesses, is underwriting the costs of the event.

Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 to noon most Saturdays, visit DFW Elite Toy Museum at 5940 Eden Drive in Haltom City or find us on Facebook. Admission to the canine-friendly museum is free. The museum offers its galleries as a venue at no charge to most groups, including charities, assisted living and senior centers, and dog rescue groups.

Cavalier Rescue USA (http://www.cavalierrescueusa.org) is a national rescue organization for Cavalier King Charles spaniels.
