Dr. Schen is a devoted educator with 25 years of professional experience and expertise in school reform. She serves as the director of program growth and development for Facing History and Ourselves, a nonprofit organization that provides international training, seminars, workshops and online learning. Since its inception in 1976, it has consisted of a growing number of locations and educational partnerships worldwide. Dr. Schen is responsible for conceiving and launching Facing History's Small Schools Network, for managing several district-wide implementations of Facing History, and for supporting educators in North America who live beyond the reach of regional offices. She also actively searches for new business opportunities and support for the organization.
In recognition of her work, Dr. Schen is a recipient of an AASA award, the Finis Engleman Scholarship for Promising Young School Administrators. She attributes her success to her exceptional work ethic, networking abilities and work experience. She also credits her own education as a strong foundation for her accomplishments. A graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Schen earned a Ed.D. in administration and social policy in 2000. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature from Brown University. Dr. Schen remains current in her field through affiliation with ASCD. She looks forward to continued professional growth in the years to come.
